Slimenet

Personal project · Experimental

A slime-mould-inspired simulation for exploring how networks form and adapt.

An experimental playground for placing points, adding barriers and exploring how the connections between them change.

Slimenet simulation showing connections around Tokyo, with barriers and preferred-route controls.

What I built

I designed and built the simulation engine, map interface and interactive playground.

  • A simulation engine that strengthens useful connections and lets weaker ones fade.
  • A map interface with barriers, preferred routes and tools to compare results.
  • A small interactive playground using the same engine, available in this portfolio.

An experiment in network behaviour, not a validated transport planning tool.

An engine that works beyond the map

The simulation runs independently of Mapbox. That lets me test its behaviour, compare repeated runs and use the same logic in both the full map and this portfolio’s playground.
